The Blanton PTA is excited to announce our “Cultivate a Love of Learning” fundraising campaign during the month of February.  As we celebrate this month of love and friendship, we ask that you join our school-wide effort to raise $10,000 for an outdoor classroom in the North courtyard. Sound impossible?  It's not!  Last year, with the help of Blanton’s amazing families, friends and supporters, we raised $13,000 for the outdoor sun shade and we can do it again.

Outdoor classrooms bring learning to life. Our goal is to provide a space that takes learning outside and becomes a gathering place for teachers, students and the Blanton community. Everyone benefits from learning outdoors, especially young people. In addition to the educational value of nature-based programming, there are numerous health benefits of outdoor learning, including improved mood and happier students, enhanced appreciation for the outdoors through interaction, increased retention rate for subject material, improved learning experience for tactile and experiential learners, and more. There is no question that an outdoor classroom will greatly benefit the students of Blanton Elementary.

Please consider a gift this month to Blanton’s Outdoor Classroom Project. Your gift will go directly to funding a professionally designed, accessible and inspiring space for students to learn, explore and collaborate.

Please Note:  Our current plan is to begin the project this year, with completion by 2019.   Because certain decisions must be made by AISD and are beyond the control of the Blanton PTA or school administration, we will keep our school community advised of the projected timeline as the project proceeds.
